RESTORATION

A body and paint restoration starts with a conversation about the vehicle you have and the result you want. Fleury’s in Ballard and Lynnwood can discuss a staged cosmetic restoration scope based on condition, parts and the work you choose to pursue.

Decide what restoration means for your vehicle

You may want one panel repaired while preserving the existing finish, or a broader body and paint project. Bring photos and explain your priorities so the discussion starts with a specific result and a defined scope.

Previous repairs, corrosion, missing trim and older coatings can affect the work involved. An initial review identifies visible concerns, while some conditions remain unknown until parts or existing finishes are removed as part of approved work.

Build a scope around the findings

Body repair, replacement panels, surface preparation and refinishing need to be considered together. Covering a damaged area with new paint does not address the condition beneath it. We discuss the proposed bodywork and the finish you are seeking before deciding what should be included in a stage.

Parts availability can be a significant question, especially where an original trim piece or panel is difficult to find. Proposed alternatives need discussion. We do not assume that every missing component is obtainable or that every corroded area can be addressed within a cosmetic repair scope.

Use stages to make decisions

A defined stage gives you a clearer point to review findings and choose what comes next. Ask what each proposed stage includes, what could change after inspection and which decisions will require your input. A staged plan should explain its boundaries instead of leaving the project open-ended.

Contact either shop before bringing in a restoration vehicle, particularly if it does not run or has loose parts. We can discuss the panels, preparation, paint and trim you want addressed, then assess the vehicle and agree on a practical scope. Additional work and parts requirements are discussed separately as the project is planned.

QUESTIONS ABOUT
RESTORATION.

Do I need to restore the whole vehicle at once?

We can discuss a defined body and paint stage that matches your priorities. The vehicle’s condition and how the proposed work fits together determine what is practical.

Can you quote a restoration from a few photos?

Photos help introduce the project, but they cannot reveal all earlier repairs or corrosion. A useful scope needs an assessment and a discussion of the desired finish.
